Grandparents' Day Celebration-2026
“Grandparents are the gentle roots that nurture a family with love, wisdom, and timeless memories.” Living up to this beautiful thought, Silas International School, Udupi, celebrated Grandparents' Day with immense love and gratitude on September 12, 2026. The day was dedicated to honouring the irreplaceable bond between grandparents and grandchildren. The celebration began on a warm and affectionate note as grandparents were welcomed with handmade paper stars crafted by the students. The little token added charm to the morning and doubled up as a coupon for the much-awaited 'Lucky Grandparent' draw at the end of the programme. The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song rendered by the teachers, filling the hall with serenity. The event was gracefully compered by Ms. Vandana, who kept the audience engaged throughout. Ms. Annet extended a heartfelt welcome to all the grandparents, followed by Ms. Sumana, who eloquently spoke on the significance of the day and the invaluable role grandparents play as the pillars of love, values, and tradition in every family. The highlight of the morning was the performances by the children. The grandchildren won everyone's hearts with a vibrant and energetic action song, a true expression of their love. This was followed by a melodious and captivating song presentation by the tiny tots, trained by Mr. Ranjan Manohar, which left the audience beaming with joy. Adding depth to the celebration, Mr. Oliver Ullagaddi, a grandparent, shared his cherished memories and words of wisdom. His heartfelt sharing resonated with everyone, reflecting unconditional love and timeless affection. Laughter and togetherness took centre stage during an engaging and fun-filled game conducted by Mr. Dinesh, in which grandparents participated with great enthusiasm, creating beautiful memories to treasure. The Principal then honoured the winners of the games and the lucky draw with prizes. In her address, she expressed profound gratitude to all grandparents for their sacrifices, selfless love, and guidance in building wonderful families. She urged the students to always respect, love and cherish their grandparents, to spend quality time with them, listen to their stories and learn from their wisdom, reminding everyone that “a grandparent’s lap is one of the safest and most comforting places in the world.” The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Suma, who thanked all grandparents, parents, staff and students for making the day a grand success. A special photo corner, beautifully designed by Ms. Divya Shetty, became the favourite spot for grandparents and grandchildren to capture their precious bond, while refreshments added warmth to the fellowship. It was indeed a day filled with love, laughter, and gratitude - a celebration that left every heart full and every eye moist with cherished memories.
