Teachers' Training Programme – Chemistry (Class X – ICSE)
Silas International School, Udupi hosted a Chemistry Teachers' Training Programme for Grade 10 teachers from schools across Udupi and Mangalore region on 22nd August 2026. The programme was facilitated by the resource person Mrs. Arpitha Praveen, Coordinator of Chemistry and commenced with a formal inaugural address by the Principal and lamp lighting ceremony. The objective of the training was to enhance pedagogical effectiveness and provide comprehensive insight into the ICSE examination framework, including the question paper pattern, evaluation scheme, marking guidelines, analysis of common errors observed during evaluation, and remedial measures thereof. Special emphasis was laid on strengthening conceptual clarity, adopting a learner-centric approach, and developing effective strategies for addressing competency-based, application-oriented and analytical questions to improve students' problem-solving and examination skills. The session further incorporated an interactive forum wherein participants deliberated on classroom challenges, shared best practices, and exchanged constructive approaches to bridge learning gaps. The programme concluded on an enriching note, equipping teachers with greater clarity on assessment expectations and reinforcing the need for concept-driven, competency-based teaching practices to ensure improved academic outcomes.
