The CISCE Zonal Professional Development Programme
Silas International School had the privilege of hosting the CISCE Zonal Professional Development Programme on 5th and 6th August, 2026. The two-day programme was organized with the objective of equipping educators with innovative pedagogical strategies to foster interactive, reflective, and student-centric classrooms. A total of 26 delegates from ICSE schools across the Udupi and Mangalore Zone participated in the programme. The enthusiastic participation reflected the commitment of schools in the zone towards continuous professional growth. The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Poornima Hegde, an experienced and renowned trainer from CENTA. With her dynamic approach and practical insights, she guided the delegates through activity-based learning modules tailored to 21st-century classroom needs. Day 1 & 2: Training Sessions The programme commenced with an earnest prayer, followed by a warm welcome address. The Ceremonial Lamp was lit by the dignitaries, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the pursuit of knowledge. The Principal of Silas International School, Ms Jacintha D'Costa, delivered the keynote address, setting the tone for the two days of learning. Following the introduction of the resource person, Dr. Poornima Hegde took over the sessions. Over the course of two days, delegates engaged in hands-on activities, group discussions, case studies, and collaborative tasks. The focus areas included: - Designing more interactive and engaging classrooms - Differentiated instruction and honoring learner individuality - Teacher well-being and sustainable teaching practices - Collaboration among institutions for academic excellence The sessions were highly participative and provided teachers with practical strategies and resources to take back to their schools. The Valedictory Function was held at 3:00 PM on 6th August, 2026. The dais was graced by: - Mrs. Sharlet Maben, The Trustee of Crystal Education Trust - Dr. Poornima Hegde, Resource Person - Ms. Jacintha D'Costa, Principal, Silas International School In her remarks, Dr. Hegde expressed her appreciation for the excellent arrangements, warm hospitality, and the vibrant participation of the delegates. In her address, Ms. Jacintha D'Costa observed that the programme had been "not just another routine training, but two days of genuine reflection and learning." She urged teachers to connect meaningfully with students, respect each child's individuality, and extend care accordingly. She also emphasized the importance of teacher self-care, stating that "a burnt-out teacher cannot inspire her students." The delegates then shared their feedback, expressing that the programme had motivated them and equipped them with fresh ideas. The event concluded with a group photograph followed by the Vote of Thanks. The delegates dispersed cheerfully, carrying back renewed energy and purpose. The CISCE Zonal Professional Development Programme successfully achieved its aim to inspire educators, elevate teaching practices, encourage collaboration, and empower institutions.
